Saturation Point

Those of you who live in or travel through Newick will have seen the heavy flooding in the fields by the bridge. This place often gives a good indication for how wet the golf course is likely to be. When I drove through there this morning I had never seen it quite so flooded, and sadly that is also true of the golf course. It is very, very wet.

Matt has just come in from a full course inspection, and sadly there is no chance of play again this weekend. We need 3 dry days to have any chance, so with a bit of luck we might be able to get something open on Monday.

We will open the clubhouse on Saturday from 10 til 3pm, and on Sunday we will open normal hours as we have over 50 signed up for our carvery, and can't wait to see you all.

Buxted Park offer

We have partnered up with Buxted Park Hotel, just 5 minutes from here to offer some "Stay & Play" packages, and as part of the deal they are happy to offer a10% discount off food and drink to Piltdown members. It's a beautiful venue boasting a very nice restaurant.

To receive the discount, just mention that you are a member at Piltdown and they'll look after you. You will need to show your green card at the time of payment.

Road closure

Golf Club Lane will be closed for a few hours at some point between 9am and 5pm on Monday 26 February. Hopefully we'll have more information on how and when we'll get access nearer the time, so we'll let you know, or you can always call us in the morning to check what's happening.

Capital planning

Nearly 40 members turned up on Monday evening to attend a Capital Planning meeting hosted by the Board. Paul Fairbairn and John Turzynski have worked tirelessly on this for the last 12 months, and they put together an excellent presentation and update.

Thanks to both of them for such an amazing effort, and a great piece of work. If you couldn't make it - the presentation is now on the website.
