The Weather - what else??

2 or 3 dry days in a row - whatever next. We have managed to have a few holes open for the last couple of days, and our aim for the weekend unless something drastic happens overnight, is to have 18 holes open both days - but it will still need to be Carry only, and do please use fairway mats.

Hopefully things will continue to dry out, and we can get trolleys back on early next week for those of you that need them.

We have managed to hand cut the greens today, so they should be pretty good for the weekend, but the rest of the course remains too wet and sticky to get our bigger machines out to cut fairways and tees etc.

The 4th Hole Lay Up

This area continues to sit very wet despite our best efforts at draining it.

Please be aware that the grass in this area is meant to be cut to fairway height (we just can't get a mower on it at the moment!) so fairway mats are allowed to be used.

Please also note that in this area only, and on a temporary basis, if you and your partner see your ball land and disappear (Plugged) then you may treat it as a ball lost in GUR, which means you get a free drop. You must be "Virtually Certain" that your ball is plugged in this lay up area for this to count.

Diaries and Calendars

Don't forget to come in and collect your Club Diary from the bar. Do also please try and support the advertisers if you can. Most clubs have stopped doing Club diaries these days, but with the support of our advertisers it is still something we can do, and we know lots of you are still very keen.

We have a few Piltdown Calendars left - £15 for the Captains' Charities - great Christmas Presents. Please purchase from the bar.

TRONC

Thanks to those of you who have responded to Brenda's email last week and have paid something towards the TRONC (Staff Christmas Fund). Those of you who have paid by BACS - you may notice your Green Card account has been topped up and then the TRONC taken out - this just helps us account for it a little easier.

Anyone still wishing to contribute - the TRONC will be open until 31st December - you can pay by green card or BACS, plus cash or card at the bar.

Ladies' Christmas lunch

The Ladies’ Christmas Lunch was a thoroughly enjoyable affair and a fine way to start off the festive season. The outfits were delightful, setting the tone for a great Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, which was very much appreciated by everyone.

The atmosphere throughout was superb, helped in no small part by the hard work of all the staff, who once again did a terrific job: many thanks to them all! It was also lovely that the ladies managed to get out and enjoy 9 holes of golf beforehand, a perfect way to work up an appetite.

A special mention goes to Annie, our Ladies’ Captain, for her warm and thoughtful speech, which was greatly enjoyed. Much laughter was also had trying to match the baby photos to their slightly older current-day counterparts, a game that proved surprisingly challenging! A cracking day all round and a Christmas lunch to remember.
