Ladies' Captain's August newsletter

We had some wonderful sunny weather in early July, with events that included:

Ladies' Captain’s Day

Despite being a very very hot day for Lady Captain’s Day, ‘Ladies Did have Fun’! Annie and I enjoyed driving round and providing much appreciated refreshments.

The winners were Jane Roberts and Bozeman Torrington with a whopping 46 points. Mulligans were on sale, which perhaps helped with the scoring but also raised money for my charity.

Ladies' Championship

It was a fine, sunny day for the 36 hole championship. It was so good to see Sophie Jones and Evie Lewis taking part. Aileen Greefield was our Champion, Sophie Jones was 2nd with only 3 shots behind Aileen. Well done to all that took part!

Division Matches

The County Division matches are almost completed. The Martlets went through to the Quarter finals and beat Royal Eastbourne at Ham Manor. The semi-finals were played at Chichester, unfortunately the match against Ashdown had to be abandoned due to heavy rain, thunder and lightening. They replayed their match last week and WON! The final against Cowdray Park is being playing on Wednesday at Crowborough. Good luck to our brilliant Martlets team!

Div 2 narrowly missed going through to the quarter finals.

Thank you to all that played in the Division matches and to the Captains Patricia O’Shea (Div 2), Pippa Smith (Div 3) and Joy Mayall (Martlets).

Upcoming Competitions

Golf Foundation 14th August

Our annual competition in support of the Golf Foundation. Donations from members and £10 for guests. The start sheet looks pretty full, and good to see we have guests playing. It's a great opportunity to invite friends for a cheap round on our beautiful course. There will be a lunch of quiche and salad afterwards, no need to change. Unfortunately, Jason can’t join us after lunch as he is away for the day. He will provide the prizes, which I will present.

Enid Adair 20th and 21st August
Ladies 18 hole blue tee Stableford 21st August
Ladies Open 28th August

As always a very popular event. There is a sign-up sheet in our changing room for ball spotting. It really helps to keep play moving, so please help if you are able to.

Grannies' clock 4th September
Autumn Meeting 10th & 11th September

The online sign up will be open soon. Please try and play with the same person on both days, though we are aware that this isn’t always possible. As always, there will be fabulous Piltdown lunch and prize giving after the Greensomes. Please change for lunch.

Captains' Charity Day 13th September

Robin and I have planned a fun day of golf and an auction. We have a reduced price of £40 per person, which includes Lizzie’s delicious buffet lunch. I do hope lots of you and your guests will join us and help to raise lots of money for our Charities.

I think that’s all for now.

Carol
