Ladies' Captain's May Newsletter

May has continued to be amazingly sunny and dry, dare we hope for a flaming June! This good weather has kicked off our golf season beautifully.

Spring Meeting

The Spring Meeting was played in beautiful weather, perhaps a tad windy.

Thank you Annie Dixon and Meg James, who organised it beautifully.

The raffle raised a wonderful £470 for my charity St Peter and St James Hospice. Thank you everyone for your generosity.

Sorry about the mistake in Phil's newsletter on Friday: Hilary won the Bronze Challenge Cup, not the Waterstone Cup, which was won by Ruth Connellan. Well done both!

Jo Linehan & Joy Mayall - 18 hole foursomes

Jo Crosland & Rhoda Pearman - 9 hole foursomes

Moira Taylor - Jubilee Salver

Aileen Greenfield - Finch Noyes

Meg James - President's Cup

All the Trophy winners!

Australian Spoons

We played the Australian Spoons for the first time at the end of April. This is an England Golf foursomes competitions for players with a HI of 15.0 and above. The top 100 scores qualify for the regional final. Our winners, Jill Pardey and Rosemary Parvin, wait to see if their 38 pts are enough to see them through...

Kyocera Cup

This is our second year of entering this competition. Annie Dixon will captain a team of 5 and we have been drawn to play Chartham Park here at Piltdown on 31st May. Best of luck ladies!

Division matches

Division matches are all underway, the results of these matches are on the notice board in our changing room. Thank you to those who have represented the club.

Kathleen Rider

This will be played at Mannings Heath on Thursday 12th June.

Hilary Humphry-Baker and Wendy Masters, Karen Langston and Pippa Smith will be representing Piltdown. Good luck and enjoy!

S.P. Ashtrays

This will take place next Tuesday. This is always a fun event with the Tuesday Boys, but we could do with a few more ladies please! The draw will take place this Friday. Please sign up online. The cost is £25.

This is always a lovely day to invite your golf friends. Great prizes and delicious lunch. Please sign up online.

The cost is £65 per pair.

Patricia and Annie who are organising this have put up a sheet in the changing room asking for help with the nibbles for the 2 tents on the course.

Friendlies

Please sign up for the friendly matches, which are on the board in the changing room. They are a lovely way to meet fellow golfers and to play on some lovely courses.

One last thing: our buddy program of experienced players taking Academy members out on the course has been really popular and much appreciated, and ideally we'd love new/more volunteers for June and July. The idea is to take beginners out for a few holes to get them used to going out on the course - we all remember how scary it is when you're just starting! Please contact Céline if you're available.

Well, I think that’s all for now. Hope you are playing lots of good golf.

Carol
