In recent years we have held hugely popular Social Weeks in November. They have ranged from Revues including singing, dancing and comedy, Murder Mysteries, Short Plays and even pantomimes (Oh yes we have!)Those who want to attend have to be quick off the mark when the list goes up as every ticket is sold within days, and often there is such a clamour from disappointed applicants that extra performances have to be arranged. Usually run over 5 consecutive nights we generally sell out the 50 tickets per performance.
Sometimes the presentation is in a nightclub style, with tables scattered around and food and drink consumed more or less continuously, and at other events it will be more of a theatre style.
Every third or fourth Friday during the winter months, a group of members get together and occupy a dozen or more tables to play Chicago. A hot supper is provided to fortify the players during the evening.
We also host regular bridge mornings every Wednesday at 10.30 am for a couple of hours, and even have Bridge lessons available most weeks for varying standards on a Monday & Friday. Dave Armstrong from "Bridge Bug" http://www.bridgebug.co.uk is a hugely popular teacher with a very relaxed teaching style.
General knowledge quizzes have been popular in the past and our own versions of television games such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, Pointless and Call My Bluff have enjoyed excellent support from the members. We even have our own version of Masterchef where male members will cook up some culinary delights for other members who judge their efforts.
