The Clubhouse is a listed building, dating probably from the late 18th Century. It has not lost its simple style or its atmosphere despite various extensions to modernise and improve the facilities. The Clubhouse may no longer be the rustic farmhouse which won Henry Cotton's affection, but it remains, as a visitor recently said, "a sort of country inn with golf course attached".
Officially the Clubhouse closes at 8 p.m. in the summer and 5 p.m. in the winter, but it is frequently alive with the sound of music, laughter and applause long after that. Internal competitions in the summer are often followed by a fork supper, and many Friday evenings in the winter-time are given over to social events of one sort or another, including bridge.
